They have probably been here “since the 7th century” (which is when Croats arrived in the territory of modern-day Croatia) and definitely since “the year 1100″… With only one vision and one aim alone – to survive. One aim, one vision, with nothing but their will to hold on to and their blistered, bruised hands as the only tool. Earth, stone, wood, sand, sea, water – all of these have passed through their hands. The hands which have, consciously enduring the freezing cold and the scorching heat, the wounds and the pains, shaped their own and the lives of their dearest ones, at the same time unconsciously shaping every bit of the history of Dobrinj and the Dobrinj region…
Since “the year 1100 after the birth of Christ” (“leta od Hristova rojstva 1100“), i.e. since the first written record of Dobrinj and throughout the following centuries, their hands have been leaving marks. The marks of struggle for survival have outlived many other struggles and adversities, and today serve only as reminders, as symbols of the times gone by. In search of those times, we have come across numerous valuable yet too little or not at all pointed out traces of the past. This catalogue will make it easy for you to find them! They are worth seeing and remembering… Since all of them were created by them – common, ordinary people…
